The Annual Cub Scout Space Derby is always held the first weekend after school starts and is typically less competitive and more fun than the Pinewood Derby. Instead of building a race car, you build a space rocket that is powered by a propeller & rubber bands. Justin's design of a lava lamp this year was meant to earn him a trophy for most creative (since we usually don't win for speed), but he ended up with a trophy for second fastest in the Bear rank.
