Special Sleepovers
Both Chase & Carly recently had the opportunity to have a their own special sleepovers at Nami & Popi's house. Chase went first and enjoyed boating, fishing, feeding the llamas, dinner, watching a movie & eating ice cream. Then it was Carly's turn while Roger & I camped with the boys at Camp LaNoChe. She had fun in the tree swing, playing with toys, reading books and snuggling on the couch with Popi. I don't think Justin wants his own turn... he likes to stick close to home!
2nd Grade Earth Project
Justin's 2nd grade class just finished their big research project on the earth & its energy. The students wrote books based on their research and made a square for a quilt put together by their teacher Mrs. Phillips. On Monday, all the parents & other second grade classes were invited to see the finished quilt (which will be auctioned off at the upcoming Art Show) and hear the students read their books. All the kids were very proud of their work!
Birthday Month!!!
Well, seems like most of my friends were born in the first quarter of the year... a couple in January, 4 or 5 in February and 3 in March. Some years we seem to have lots of celebrations and sometimes the birthdays just whiz by. Nancy was lucky enough to get lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and we enjoyed ourselves at the Stage Door in honor of Terri's birthday...
Geocaching
Our Cub Scout Den participated in something called Geocaching this past weekend, which is an outdoor treasure hunting game in which participants use a GPS to hide and seek containers called "geocaches" or "caches". A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure," usually toys or trinkets of little value. Out of the 15 or so located within Celebration (there are 700,000 of them around the world), we found the two closest to us. One was in Spring Park and the other on a walking path about 1/4 mile from our house. The boys really enjoyed it and are excited to make & hide our own geocache in a couple weeks.

Happy Anniversary Nami & Popi
Roger's parents just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on January 29. They decided to celebrate by going camping down in Highlands Hammock State Park near Sebring. They are both big nature people... they can identify any plant, bird or animal in Florida and Nami does lots of volunteer work for the Audubon Society to preserve Florida's natural areas. They are an inspiration to us in many ways. Happy annivesary Nami & Popi. We love you!
Annual Burning
Every year, Roger's parents collect old Christmas trees from around their neighborhood for our annual burning of the trees event down by the lake on their property. I posted a video last year that shows how fast & how high a Christmas tree burns and it's pretty amazing. It doesn't take long to burn 10 Christmas trees, but it's fun nonetheless! Justin & Chase (and the neighbor's son Ty) got to help Popi throw the trees in the fire pit this year, so they had a blast. No pun intended!
